The short version

Kivo only sees what you choose to send it. We don’t sell your data, we don’t show ads, and we don’t keep your chats on our servers.

What the extension does

The Kivo.ai extension for Chrome and Edge answers study questions. It only reads a page when you ask it to: when you take a screenshot or snip, send selected text, or ask about the current page. That content is sent to Kivo’s server to get an answer and is not used for anything else.

Your chat history and settings are stored locally in your browser (chrome.storage) and never leave your device unless you send a message. You can delete them anytime in the extension’s settings or by removing the extension.

What we store on our servers

  • Account: your email address and, if you sign in with Google, your Google account name and email.
  • License and usage: your plan, its status and expiry date, and how many messages you sent each day, used to apply the daily limit.
  • Connected browsers: a hashed token for each browser you connect, so you can disconnect it later.
  • Free-trial checks: one-way hashed identifiers (of your account, email and payment card) so each person and card gets only one free trial.

We do not store your messages, screenshots or the answers you get.

Services we use

  • OpenRouter and the AI model providers it routes to generate answers to the messages you send.
  • Supabase hosts accounts and the data listed above.
  • Stripe processes payments. We never see or store your full card number.
  • Google provides “Continue with Google” sign-in if you choose it.
  • Resend sends account emails, such as sign-up confirmation and password reset.
  • Vercel hosts this website.

Your choices

You can disconnect a browser or cancel your subscription at any time from your account page. To get a copy of your data, or to delete your account and everything stored about you, email us and we’ll do it within 30 days.

Children

Kivo is a study tool for students. If you are under the age where your country requires parental consent for online services, please use Kivo with a parent’s or guardian’s permission.
